Assignment 2 : Progress of Real Construction 3 and 6-Balloon Black Bamboo Box

We did some survey around Komtar area today to search lighter bamboo for both our floating dome and 6-balloon black bamboo box. Finally we found a joss paper shop, it sold bamboo and we find out that the bamboo which have divided to smaller part is more light then bamboo sticks. With lighter bamboo, we able to carry our floating dome easily with 3 people and it may success to float on water. Moreover, we really need a very light material to make our 6-balloon black bamboo box too.

we decided to bought a few of it

Finally, we bought the rice paper and the bamboo from the shop. we decided to bought a few bamboo to make our 6-balloon black bamboo box first since the due date was nearer than the bamboo dome. Besides, we are still testing the floating ability of our new ordered bamboo which will arrive very soon during this few day. More to go on this two project! (anticipating xD)

On wednesday, we are requested to named our bamboo dome name and sketch out our ideal bamboo dome design. During that day....

Assignment 2 : Progress of Real Construction 1

On monday, due to the real construction assignment on bamboo dome, we decided going to Rumpun Buluh Research Village, USM through the RST gate. We go with large group to find bamboo xD

then togther we carry it out from the rumpun buluh village

collecting the small bamboo stick for the dome

everyone is carry the bamboo to RST gate

we form a line and pass the bamboo one by one.

Finally, all the bamboo was move to the road side of RST. Then the worst part was, we need to carry those bamboo to desa CG through the bridge. Everyone was so tired and haven eat their dinner even its almost 8pm. Luckily, the was a small truck from USM security willing to move all of our bamboo to Desa CG. We was able to place the bamboo to the safe place without worry. Coming up next was, splitting up the bamboo!

Assignment 2 : Geodesic Dome

This time, we are give an assignment to build a geodesic dome. We are require to make a dome from bamboo sticks . We are told that dome calculator and joints are the key of building the dome. Im making a 3V dome, its quite complicated to build it. The radius for my dome was 17.5cm therefore, i need to seperated three different length of bamboo sticks. The calculation of the dome was refer from http://www.desertdomes.com/domecalc.html

Finally Done! A Complete 3/8 Dome!

I used up almost whole day sticking the geodesic dome -.- what a tiring day!

During the submission day, we have been told to pass up our geodesic dome with BASE. So, we go back and stick the base right after the classes. Happy because able to submit on time :D

Assignment 2B : Virtual Construction

Above picture was taken at my hometown Tanjong Malim, Perak. It was the Tanjung Malim Bus Terminal located near my home.

The six element of production which can be summarise from this picture :

1) Intention

What i can see from this picture, the intention from this picture was the bus terminal was providing bus services to the resident of the town.

2) Actor

A actor is playing an important roles in a picture to tell the story. From the picture above, the actor was standing behind the with blue colour shirt.

3) Act

Apparently, there was a people which was the actor was playing a role. The actor was fixing the orange colour bus.

4) Place

Its located at the entry to the town, Tanjong Malim beside there's a river seperating Perak and Selangor called Sungai Bernam.

5) Rule

Of course there was rules in everyplace and this picture do have so. The rule was the parking lots located at the terminal. Every bus have to follow the rule to park in the given lots with order.

6) Product

Lastly, the product was the sastification of the town's resident. The Bus terminal provide services and fullfill every resident's necessities to travel.
